Mashal is a charitable social organization registered under Societies Registration Act 21, 1860 (Reg. No: 708/2000-01) and FCRA, 1976 (Reg.No:031170409). It was established in the year 2000. It is the socio-health wing of the Sisters of Notre Dame, Patna. It has obtained registration under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 in the year 2008 and has taken several projects through its FCR Account. It is also a recipient of certain programmes of the Bihar Government.
Mashal, over the years, has contributed to the rural health and empowerment of women and girls of the marginalized sections of our society through its various programmes and activities at the grassroots in different States of India.
Mashal has a Women Resource Development Unit known as Mahila Chetna Kendra at its Head Office, Patna. Through this unit, Mashal imparts capacity building training for women and girsl.
Mashal has carried out various curative and preventive measures in promoting health and well-being of individuals and communities in Bihar, through its Health care units, namely Navjeevan Health Centre, Sasaram, Notre Dame Health Centre, Jamalpur, Sheetal Swasthya Kendra, Sheikhpura and Sanjeevan Community Health Centre, Gahiri.
