Target Group: 300 Santhal Tribal Families

No. of Villages to be Covered: 15 villages with tribal population

No. of WADIs: 240

Landless Families to be Covered :60

Major Species Planted: Mango, Guava and Lemon

Project period: April 2022 to March 2029

Primary Objective of this project intervention is to provide livelihood security to the targeted tribal families by establishing 240 orchards of selected fruit plants (which in due course of time would increase their level of income and employment) and other wild plants (to meet the fodder, firewood and timber requirements of tribal people and thereby reducing their dependency on forest).

Other Specific Objectives of the proposed intervention are the following:

  • Effective utilization of available land, water and manpower resources available with the selected tribal families through participatory approach by way of improved and innovative Agriculture practices, plantation of fruit bearing plants with forest species, Soil conservation, WHS promotion and awareness generation for change of life style.
  • Implementation of eco-friendly income generating activities.
  • Development through people’s organization.
  • Women participation in development process and empowerment.
  • Improvement in the health, sanitation and access to drinking water.

Expected Outcome:

It is envisaged that the project activities would generate additional income and employment; which would help eradicating poverty of the targeted families. Besides, it would reduce the incidence of migration and wanton exploitation of forest resources substantially.

The financial analysis of the project indicates that the WADI family will be able to earn a minimum family income of Rs. 30,000/-

It is expected that project would not only help to bring the targeted families above the poverty line but will also spreads the concept of WADI to other tribal areas of the state.
